Bub here. My weekend was filled with fun and fear-facing! Saturday was the season opener of the Bay Area Derby girls roller derby. I was intrigued but when I saw that it was being held in Richmond, I said "Forget it, no way." I should let it be known that I am terrified of Richmond, possibly more than Oakland. If you have watched the news and seen how often Richmond is discussed for whatever recent assault or murder that took place, you would swear to never go there again too.
But, my friend and follower of BubSteena, Greta, helped to remind me that we cannot let our fears hold us back. BubSteena knows plenty about living in fear. Having fun and not letting our fears get in the way of our adventures is what this damn blog is all about! So I knew I couldn't let you down. I had to go to the roller derby in Richmond, and not just for me; I had to do it for the blog, for BubSteena. So I went and I'm glad I did. The Richmond Wrecking Belles beat the Sac City Rollers in a landslide with a score of something like 200 to 99. I couldn't always follow what was going on but I had a lot of fun and I would definitely go again.
