BubSteena here. What can we say other than our impromptu trip to L.A. was totally worth it!!! Tuesday started out a little different as planned. We wanted to get up around 4am and leave by 5. One of us, I won't name names but it starts with a Bub, heard the alarm clock go off and turned it off as fast as she could in order to get back to sleep for what she thought would only be 10 minutes. That 10 minutes turned out to be 3 hours. We got up at 7, got ready, and hit the road by 8.
The drive was smooth and we made it to L.A. by 2:30. Once we got there, we didn't have anywhere to go (Steena's brother was still working) so we walked around for a bit and got root beer (and coke) floats. While we were walking, we were constantly on the lookout for celebrities. And we spotted one!! The lovely and talented Roseanne was sitting at a table having lunch with a friend. Steena made eye contact with her and smiled, Bub saw her and immediately looked away for fear of getting caught looking at her.
Later that day, we got a call from Steena's bro saying he would not be getting out of work until 10 or 11. This is when we (actually just Bub) really started to panic. We had nowhere to go. Bub had been making fun of homeless people all throughout the day so we decided this was karma. Thanks a lot Bub. We drove around for a bit and found a Von's, where we got ready in the parking lot and bathroom.
We then drove to the Hotel Cafe where Sam Bradley was performing. Bub thought she was going to throw up she was so nervous. We had done our research and knew that Rob was going to be there. Sam played a couple songs. Bub was looking at the back of the bar every 30 seconds or so. At the end of the second song, Bub looked over and saw someone with a baseball cap walk in. His face was really dark and shadowy. She thought it might be Rob. Then she saw their friend Tom (Tom Sturridge, this is only time we will mention his name.) When Bub saw Tom, she knew that she had just seen Rob. Bub froze up, grabbed Steena's arm, and Steena was able to see the back of both Rob and Tom's heads.
Towards the end of the show, Bub decided they should move to the back of the bar, knowing Rob and Tom would have to walk by again. After a few minutes, they did exactly that and Bub saw Rob's face again! Steena again was too slow and saw only the back of them.
It was a great night!! We did not talk to Rob or get a picture with him but this is only the beginning...
