Steena here! I went to the double feature at the Egyptian Theater. It was very enjoyable. I parked about 2 blocks away in the Hollywood/Highland garage, it ended up costing me $3. I was running late due to traffic (I think people were slowing down to look at the unbelievably beautiful LA skyline). When I arrived to the theater I realized I forgot my student ID, I was still able to get the discount of $9 for both films. Awesome! Popcorn was only $4 so naturally I had to get some - it was my dinner, what can I say.
Before they started Night of the Living Dead the manager of the theater came out to say a few words. He mentioned that during the transition of stage to screen often times there would be a live show pertaining to the film, before the film. We got a live show! A group of about 8 or 9 came out as zombies and danced to Thriller. It was great.
I am a zombie movie fan, but I have to admit I had never seen George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead all the way through. I would always watch it at odd times and fall asleep. ("You fell a-sleeep!") It is a great movie! Not just a great zombie movie. I loved seeing it on the big screen, as films are meant to be seen.
The next film was Zombie, 1979 directed by Lucio Fulci. It was very entertaining and interesting in terms of giving a different angle to how zombies are "created" and even destroyed. There is an epic fight scene between a zombie and a shark, as well as nudity, which I think is very important to a great B horror movie. I keep admitting things, but I fell asleep during this one. A double feature is much harder to get through than I thought, especially one that starts at 7:30pm. I am pretty sure I saw all of the really good parts of the film, and again it was great seeing zombies take over the screen.
All in all it was a great Sunday evening.
Hahaha.. I can totally hear Rachel saying that line! I wish you were here this week.. they're having some sort of Zombie Walk in San Jose on Wednesday! http://www.zombieorama.com/ It sounds like something you would totally love! Miss you and can't wait to see you SOON! Glad you are enjoying LA!
